Anastasios Boniakos was born in Athens Greece.
He graduated from the 20th High School of Athens with grade "honours” and was admitted to the Medical School of National Kapodistrian University of Athens where he graduated in 1991. He served his military service in 251th General Air Hospital in the Department of Hematology Blood Donation. He completed his field service at Istiaia Health Center in Northern Euboea for 2 ½ years where he discovered firsthand the fundamental weaknesses of the central state administration to respond to the provision of the fundamental good of health to the inhabitants of the region.
He completed his fellowship in Endocrinology, at the Department of "Endocrinology Diabetes & Metabolism " of Evangelismos General Hospital of Athens under the direction of Nikolaos Thalassinos and his team, who inspired him with passion and methodicality in pursuing the subject. At the same time, he prepared his thesis at the University of Athens and bears the title ‘’ Doctor of Philosophy’’. He has participated in numerous research publications in prestigious international journals and has been awarded for his valuable contribution to clinical research. Currently working in private sector but always keeps up with ongoing research collaborations with numerous institutions all over Greece and Europe. He is a member of the Hellenic Society of Endocrinology (EEE-PEE), the Endocrine Society, the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE), the Hellenic Society for the Study of Bone Metabolism (EEMMO), the Hellenic Diabetes Association (EDE), the Diabetes Association of Northern Greece (DEBE), the EASD (European Association for the Study of Diabetes) and the Hellenic Obesity Society. He is a fluent speaker of English and French.
