Dr. Anastasios Boniakos is an Endocrinologist and Diabetologist with extensive clinical experience in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. He holds a PhD from the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).
He completed his specialist training at the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism of Evangelismos General Hospital in Athens, one of Greece's longstanding and prominent centers for endocrinology training and clinical care. His specialist training took place under the direction of the late Dr. Nikolaos Thalassinos, whose scientific approach, clinical expertise and methodical practice played an important role in shaping Dr. Boniakos' clinical judgment and medical philosophy.
Education and Clinical Training
Dr. Boniakos graduated from the School of Medicine of the University of Athens in 1991. He completed his military service at the 251 Hellenic Air Force General Hospital, where he served in the Department of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. He subsequently spent two and a half years at the Istiaia Health Center, gaining valuable experience in primary healthcare and the management of a broad range of clinical conditions. He then completed his specialist training in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Evangelismos General Hospital in Athens.
In 2026, he successfully completed the specialized continuing education program "Lifestyle Medicine" at the Center for Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning of the University of Thessaly (110 hours, 5 ECTS credits). This additional training strengthened his knowledge of the role of nutrition, physical activity, sleep and other lifestyle factors in the prevention and management of chronic and metabolic diseases.
Academic and Research Activities
Alongside his clinical training, he completed his doctoral dissertation at the School of Medicine of the University of Athens, entitled: "Comparative Study of the Effects of ACE Inhibitors and Calcium Channel Blockers on Carotid Artery Intima Thickness in Hypertensive Patients."
Following the successful completion of his doctoral research, he was awarded a PhD by the University of Athens.
He has contributed to clinical research studies published in international scientific journals, participating in the advancement and dissemination of medical knowledge.
In recognition of his contribution to clinical research, he has received a scientific distinction from the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly.
